For most of the year
Pondicherry is a hot and humid city. Winter runs from December through to
February .. the daily highs are rarely above 30 degrees and the evenings are
pleasant, even cool. March through till June is when the summer sets in and the temperature soars to 40 degrees.
The south west
monsoon (July to September) bring in a little relief but the temperature
still remain warm. The north east monsoons (October to early December)
take the oppressive heat of the summers. |

| Pack a lot of cotton clothing to keep cool in the summers and a book handy to weather the rains. The best way to get around Pondicherry is on a cycle rickshaw, which is cooler than walking and allows you leisurely observation of street life. Three experiences, how ever can be best enjoyed on foot. The park, the beach road and shopping in Nehru street. Well if the heat gets too much, walk in to Rendezvous Cafe restaurant and enjoy a nice cool beverage and a meal in a relaxed atmosphere. | ||
